Sunday, September 6, 2009, the 51st reunion was held.  Carole's breakdown.  "Just a little breakdown of facts that I know you all are dying to hear.  Of the 56 names on record, 25 were classmates, 20 guests, and 11 spouses.  14 classmates attended both years.  11 were new this year."

Patricia Lucas Van Steenberg was present.  She was the person we were unable to locate for so long and she was right there across the Ohio river.  Great to see her.

There is a breakfast for the class each first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 at Bob Evans at the Huntington Mall.  Everybody welcome.  That's where we do a lot of the planning.

Look forward to seeing you next year on September 5th, same time, same place.

THE 50TH CLASS REUNION of the GUYAN VALLEY CLASS OF '58
We had a wonderful, fun Guyan Valley High School 50th Class Reunion  of the Class of '58, August 31, 2008. It was held at "Famous Dave's BBQ" restaurant  near Huntington, WV as guests of the owner, Rex "Tootie" Donahue, one member of the Class of '58.  There were 23 classmates there.  We had a total of 56 guests .
We had so much fun.  There were greetings, visiting, renewing old acquaintances, playing 1958 high school trivia and much much more.  The program was planned by a committee of classmates.  They were: Sharon Fellure Davis, Gave Swanson Porter, Melani Wilkinson Adkins, Martha Brandt Adkins, Donna Baker Pullen, Carolyn Coffman Manns, Sue Clay for Jr. Clay, Joan Hart Justice and Carole Martin Bates.  The Mistress of Ceremony for the evening was Joan Hart Justice.  The program began with an invocation by Lonnie Skaggs.  Then a candle lighting ceremony was lead by Milton Clay, Jr.  and Nello Parsons.  Twenty two candles were lit in honor of those who have passed from this life.
Then a portion of a CD video was shown of old pictures of the high school days.  A request went out for more pictures and orders were taken to purchase the Class of '58 Video.  Wow, it was wonderful!  The video was produced by Keith Bates the son of classmate, Carole Martin Bates.  We had the opportunity of seeing ourselves not as we looked in 2008 but as we looked in '58.  This was a very special treat.  There were over forty video CDs sold for 10.00 each.
A professional photographer took the class picture as well as many other snapshots.
Dinner was served and a large cake made especially for the 50th Reunion of the Class of '58 was served along with free deserts given by our host.
After dinner the MC led the group in the Class of '58 trivia game with Vana White a.k.a Gaye Swanson Porter  delivering prizes associated with the answer to the questions.  Everyone in the room was extremely involved in this fun activity.  Then each attendee had the opportunity to tell everyone about themselves and what has occurred in their lives since 1958.  They let us all know something we didn't know.  INTERESTING!!!!  The program was over and no one wanted to leave. The visiting went on and on and on...
We are planning to have another reunion the Sunday before Labor Day next year.  So make your plans....4pm September 6, 2009, Famous Dave's BBQ near the Huntington Mall.
