Almost Heaven West Virginia

The little community of Bear Creek is having a homecoming at the Chapel on Saturday, August 30, 2008 beginning at 11 am. Bring a covered dish and a lawn chair.

Let's explain a little.  If you are unable to bring a covered dish for some reason, come on anyway.  We certainly don't expect you to bring a bowl of potato salad from Baltimore!

If it is easier, bring soft drinks, chips, cookies or something of that sort.

No charge.

Donations accepted.

Bring a lawn chair, a covered dish and your choice of beverage. No alcohol please.

You are Welcome if..

You live on Bear Creek

You ever lived on Bear Creek

You have ever been to Bear Creek

You know anybody from Bear Creek

You ever heard of Bear Creek

Pickin’ and Grinnin’ is permitted and encouraged!

Bring your guitars, fiddles, Jews harp, jugs or spoons!

Now if you would rather talk and eat, that is allowed.

You must come see the new siding on the addition.

Bring your old pictures and Patty will run them through the scanner and make CD’s of all the pictures. Then we can all have a copy! Great idea.

We’ll have hot dogs and hamburgers. What else?

I don’t know. Whatever y’all bring in them covered dishes!

We’re gonna miss you

if you don’t attend.

From the Past......

The Chapel was originally a school and used as a church from 1914. When it ceased to be used for school, it was deeded to the community on November 15th, 1944.

The chapel has been used in the past for church, weddings, funerals, showers, singing conventions, 4-H and community meetings.

The trustees wish to have input from the residents on the protection, maintenance, care and uses of the building.

All of your support would be appreciated, whether in the form of money, supplies, labor or time.

If you live on Bear Creek, you own a little piece of this building.

May the chapel be a blessing to you and to the community.

My Daddy, Froud Wilkinson, would never read a book unless it was true.  Well, Daddy, this is all true.
